Hi, I’m Matt.

My mission is to impact lives by providing financial knowledge, creating a safe space for overlooked communities to open up about their finances, and empowering people to take informed financial actions.

Most of us are never taught how to manage money and that’s why we’re just trying to make ends meet.

I know I’m not the only one who didn’t grow up learning about money. After 4+ years working in a bank and now as an underwriter at a fintech company, I see people of all income levels and backgrounds facing money issues. I’ve seen people making nearly 7 figures take out expensive loans to pay for Christmas presents for their kids. I’ve seen kids and spouses inherit debt after a loved one dies. I’ve seen adults pay thousands of dollars in interest for decades because they weren’t taught how student loans work.

Many money issues are avoidable with simple financial knowledge.

Institutions profit off of consumers’ lack of knowledge. A lot of us simply don’t know how money works. Not only are numbers involved, but emotions as well. Money issues cause shame, fear, anger, depression, and more. They affect every part of our lives from our emotions to our relationships.

I’ve been there.

I’m the 3rd oldest of 9 kids and I grew up knowing how important it is to make sure there’s enough money to take care of everyone.

I graduated from college with a degree in managerial economics, a concentration in finance, and a minor in communications. I learned why money exists and how money works on a macro level.

But it wasn’t until I took my one and only personal finance class that I began to understand how money affected me, my family, and our lives on a personal level.

I started to learn how to make my money work for me.

I started working at a bank and I quickly realized how many people make financial decisions without ever understanding how money truly works.

I began studying personal finance in my free time and applying what I was learning from my hands-on experience in the financial industry in order to make a better financial situation for me and my family.

Since then I’ve been able to become (and stay!) debt free, maintain a high credit score, start a profitable Airbnb business, invest nearly 6-figures into the stock market, and continue to build my net worth year-over-year.

And more importantly, I’ve helped friends and family with their finances as well. Once I started learning about money, I shared that knowledge with the people around me.

I helped my siblings graduate with fewer student loans and start investing in low-cost index funds. I helped my youngest brother build good credit at age 11. I’ve made sustainable plans for family members to become debt free in less than a year. I’ve helped friends max out retirement accounts at their jobs, get free flights through travel points on credit cards, run the numbers on their first home purchase, and more.

By giving people the knowledge that we don’t all grow up with, my mission is to empower people to make money work for them instead of them only working for money.

I’m here to provide a judgment-free space to create a financial plan that works with you to reach your goals.
